Lexington Announces 2012 Community Charity Partner

On Monday 27th February Lexington Catering, celebrating their 10th year in business, has announced their new charity partnership with Ben Jonson Primary School in Tower Hamlets, as the first stage of their LexingTEN programme of CSR initiatives to be supported during their special anniversary year.

Selected from a long list of worthy causes the Lexington board of directors selected a school project after a number of charity suggestions were received from across the business. A number of schools were then shortlisted in the local area for closer consideration.

Mike Sunley, Chief Executive, says “For a long time now Lexington has supported a number of community projects, especially in schools as part of the Adopt a School scheme and our association with The Children’s Hospital School at Great Ormond Street, so it made sense for us to look at a worthy cause with a big emphasis on children and their development. As we celebrate a decade in business we decided to look for a school close to where we started the business on the Mile End Road as well as a school that would really benefit from any funds we could raise. Needless to say the Ben Jonson Primary School hits all the buttons as we are delighted to be supporting them”.

Ben Jonson Primary School is a 3 form entry school, where they aim to give all pupils the very best opportunities possible to ensure they can achieve their mission statement: ‘Realising Potential’. Their pupils are helped to become mature, self-confident, articulate individuals, who are enthusiastic about sharing their learning with everyone. They recognise the incredible importance of ensuring the pupils excel in reading, writing and mathematics, but also the need for them to be given a whole range of opportunities that will equip them to succeed on whatever path they chose to follow.

Over the course of the year the school will benefit from the proceeds of a number of Lexington managed fundraising events including food and cake sales, sponsored sporting events and a companywide family fundraising day in the summer. In addition to that the Lexington team will be supporting the school in a number of special events and projects including visiting the school to provide cooking “master classes” and working on the schools allotment projects.

Dr. Melanie Rose, Head teacher at The Ben Jonson Primary School commented “We are delighted to be forming a partnership with Lexington, who have an ethos in harmony with ours, where all people are nurtured to achieve their very best and are proud to belong to their organisation. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship!”
