Danny Leung, Executive Head Chef at Guardian News & Media, has been shortlisted for the ‘Contract Catering Chef of the Year’ and Louise Roberts, Apprentice at law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner, has been shortlisted for the ‘Apprentice Chef Award’.
Danny is one of Lexington’s most successful, innovative and hardworking chef’s. His cooking career started life fifteen years ago as a KP working under Robert Kirby’s guidance, now Lexington’s Chef Director. Since then Danny has rapidly progressed into one of the most creative, dedicated and respected members of the team within Lexington. He has led four Le Parade des Chef teams over the span of his career and has won a total of four Gold awards, Silver and two Bronze at Hotelympia as well as being crowned Tilda Chef of the Year 2012.
Danny plays a key role in mentoring Lexington’s youngest chefs and he has been a pivotal part in the set up and development of the Lexington School of Talent programme. Danny works closely with Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Foundation in finding suitable placements for their chefs within Lexington.
Louise has been shortlisted for the ‘Apprentice Chef Award’ and was one of the first apprentices to take part in Lexington’s chef apprenticeship programme, Lex School of Talent. In the last year Louise has been involved in extremely high levels of competitive cooking, reaching the finals of the Craft Guild of Chefs Graduate awards where she was the youngest and the only contract caterer in the field. Most recently Louise was awarded Gold and Best in Class at the Birmingham Hospitality Show’s prestigious Salon Culinaire competition in January.
