The cash was raised through a company-wide bake sale as part of the charity’s inaugural Dream Tea campaign which launched in June. Dreams Come True is a national children’s charity who work to bring joy to terminally and seriously ill children by making their dreams come true.
The nationwide Dream Tea campaign, run by the charity, raised over £11,000 during the week, with over half of that coming from Lexington’s impressive fundraising efforts. During the ‘Dream Tea’ week Lexington kitchens across the company were busy baking 100’s of mini Victoria sponges to sell to their customers. One Lexington site baked over 600 in one day and over the course of the week raised a staggering £2,100.
The money raised will go towards funding children’s dreams. These include Jessica, 11, who has scoliosis and multiple tumours and Lionel also 11, who has severe learning difficulties, needing the constant care of an adult. Jessica’s dream is to ride a horse on the beach and swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove, Florida and Lionel’s dream is to go to Portugal to be by the sea and play with his family.
Talking about the success of the Dream Tea Week, Peter Newman, Chief Executive at Dreams Come True says “Lexington have been amazing. Their emphasis on service and quality, the delicious cakes that they produced specially for Dream Tea week, and the infectious enthusiasm and warmth of the lovely Lexington team as they went about raising funds for our wonderful Dreams children exemplify what Dream Tea is all about.”
Mike Sunley, Chief Executive at Lexington says “We were all so impressed and proud of the determination, effort and enthusiasm that our Lexy sites put into their fundraising and cake baking over the Dream Tea week. We’re already looking forward to getting baking again for the Dream Tea campaign next year and we will certainly be pushing to beat this year’s incredible total!”
